We're Back

It was a good week but as always it is good to be back home. Kiara put it best "I'm happy to be home"

Friday, January 21, 2011

OK. The week has flown by! We finished the window replacement, cabin addition, painting, and other projects by Thursday night so decided to leave early! We said our goodbyes to pastor Duane, Cheryl, and Anita this morning about 9:00 and headed back North. We're tired, a bit sore, but happy to have reconnected to our "sister" congregation and the community in Meridian. Work done; no serious injuries!

Kiara enroute to Meridian.

Dinner at Ryan's in Meridian. Finally a sit down meal - Tuscaloosa was too busy to dine there!

Yay! Were here!! Stopped for supper at Ryan's in Meridian. Nice to sit and eat! Better to be here with a bed waiting for me!!#
Had snow all the way to Birmingham! Funny to see masking tape used as a makeshift caution tape to prevent people from walking through the "deep" snow!

Snow finally disappeared by the time we got to Tuscaloosa. (And it warmed up: -) )

Wow! Almost to 'Bama! I fell asleep to warmer weather (than Indiana) and uncovered ground in Kentucky. Woke up in Tennessee to inches of snow and cold!! Yep, snow covered ground as far as I can see!
Stopped in Bowling Green, KY for fueling bodies and vehicles. The rest did us good!
Stopped in Elwood to make more room for coffee, ate some breakfast, and rested the drivers. Its amazing to some of us how easy it is to lose followers when the leader is a big bus pulling a trailer! (Maybe it has something to do with heading North to get to Meridian!)
Hit snowy roads near Wabash
We are on our way!! Left the church at 6:08. Stan is driving the bus; Jerry and Floyd following behind in the car. The road seems good - no snow nor ice and almost no traffic.

Getting ready

I've got my tools together and ready to load. Laundry is going but I've got most of my packing done. Now I need to find my pinochle cards so as to pass the bus trip quickly! (The back of the bus is the "pinochle place"!) I'll be up by 0400 to make coffee eat a bit and "clean house" so it's ready for Betty's return from Austin

Hmmm I wonder if Kiara is old enough to play cards yet!! :-) I hear she's SO excited to go that she thought yesterday was the day to leave!! :-) While it is a long ride down, it's a good transition from "work" to "mission".

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers as we travel South, work, interact, and hopefully reflect God's light to all we meet! I feel so blessed to be able to go!
